"As a villager, I remember in 1986 when then Mozambican leader Samora Machel died. I got the news earlier than most in the village and as a very young boy then, I was excited and started telling the elders of the news. Guess what, I was reprimanded and told never to say such things again. I was only proven right hours later when the news was aired on radio. From that time, I have championed the right of the people to know. I have observed that there is a very wide gap between the public officials and the public and I always want to tell the people what is happening and at times tell them what it means."
