"I wanted to make a difference in people's lives. I wanted to do things that in a way will change my society. Thus the passion i have cultivated over these years to do stories that could make a difference and impact people's lives."
Sarah Bomkapre Kamara. She is a radio and Tv journalist and producer based in Freetown, Sierra Leone. She has been working as a journalist for six years now, and is currently part of "Cotton Tree News" (http://www.cottontreenews.com/), an independent radio project located at the University of Sierra Leone. She is editor and presenter of CTN's daily lunchtime news program as well as their weekly program on education (http://www.cottontreenews.com/education).
When she was in secondary school she peppered everyone with questions, often told she was behaving like a journalist - and that got her on the track to where she is now.
She just got a BA in Mass. Comm from the University of Sierra Leone (where she won best student last year), as well as diplomas in Cultural Studies and Business Administration. She's also worked with JHR, the UN and interned in Germany, where she picked up the language.
With JHR she did one of her favourite radio features about persons with disabilities in Sierra Leone not acquiring higher education.
